request #10717: REST tests cannot be run without Git 1.9

Commit 08b1689c6207bc99bc4fe777bc37763b5405fc4c has not moved the REST test suite init to Git 2.9. Git 1.9 has been dropped from the Docker image [1], making the tests fail.
