Given a column has a color in the "new" palette (fiesta-red, neon-green, …), then the taskboard header reflects this color (border top & text). Else the column has default color. It is not possible to use the freestyle colors (old palette or entered manually as rgb hexa value) because those colors like informations: - in which color the text should be displayed - in which color the border should be displayed Furthermore it would force us to use inline style which is bad.
