    Original summary was: Accessing in the file part of a PR a submodule change generates an error

    Reproduction steps:
    1. Create a PR adding or changing the status of a submodule
    2. The submodules will be visible in the list of files but accessing it will throw an error

    gerrit #12650 has been abandoned in favor of gerrit #12652, a minimal support of Git submodules is added instead of just hiding the submodules.
