    Drop the C toolchain from the Nix shell dev environment

    The Nix shell dev environment we provide is built upon pkgs.mkShell which itself comes with a predefined set of dependencies via the stdenv. As a result we end up with a full C toolchain in our dependencies which is not something we need for our day to day work.
