PROBLEM

Writing math formulae such as \begin{pmatrix} 1 & 0 & 0 \\ 0 & 1 & 0 \\ 0 & 0 & -1\end{pmatrix} in .md files in a git are not rendered correctly, whereas they are in the Markdown extension of VSCode, or GitHub for example.

SUGGESTED SOLUTION

Please add support for this. Or is there any alternative I could use (syntax,..)?
