    Charts with float input
This is my first interaction with tuleap team so let me start with ... thank you for Tuleap!

    My question/problem is following:
I wanted to track expenditures so I created tracker "Orders" where I added float field "Cost".
Then I wanted to create a report chart with total cost for project (e.g. continuous flow chart - that is cumulative cost vs time, or bar chart - sum of costs per "Category") but I'm not able to choose this float field as a "Source data". What are restrictions/requirements for this kind of use case?

I'm able to choose "Category"/"Assigned to"/"Status" (all of these fields are part of the "Orders" tracker) but not that float "Cost".

It is not a big problem since I can always export those artifacts and handle this outside of tuleap but it seems to me that everything needed for such a use case is already there in tuleap. I just don't know how to achieve it.

    Best regards
    Andrzej

    > .. not on our high priority list.

Perfectly understandable, as I've mentioned in submission I'll be handling this outside of tuleap.

    > Is it something important for you?

To be honest yes - but it's not a big problem (I've marked this "Ordinary" :)). Just a matter of unnecessary exporting of data for simple cases which can be perfectly handled inside tuleap. Any more complicated analysis should be done outside of tuleap.

    > How does it affect your business?

Not much :). We are a small company just introducing tuleap to our workflow, and I'm exploring what can be done with it, and how much it can simplify/organize our life. It may be that in the next couple of months I'll be bumping from time to time against limits of what can be accomplished with trackers :)

Anyway thank you for putting this on your "low priority todo" list!

    Best regards

    Thanks for the suggestion !

I switch this request to enhancement. Nevertheless it is not on our high priority list. Is it something important for you ? How does it affect your business ?

Yes it does, thank you Nicolas.

I'll be handling this outside of Tuleap for now, but could you make this request an "enhancement request" (it seems that I'm not able to modify that myself).

Given my lack of knowledge about Tuleap internals and the fact that one special instant of such chart already exists (burndown charts) it seems to me that not much would have to change in order to have this functionality.

Pie chart is not that interesting but for it sensible solution would be to have the same behaviour as today (that is "source data" from some "list" type) but in addition to have another combo "Values" and in it to choose:
    - "Count" <- today behaviour, that is count how many artifacts and then calculate percentage
    - "Field" <- this would allow one to choose "numeric" (float/int) field and the only difference from previous point would be that instead of counting artifacts we would be summing values of this field (with empty field being 0)

Exactly the same behaviour could be done for bar chart and cumulative flow chart.

    Best regards

    Hi,

As of today, only fields of type "list" (selectbox, multiselectbox) can be used as source of charts.

    Does it answer your question?

    Regards,
    Nicolas
